“The most dangerous risk of all – the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.” – Randy Komisar

My name is Alyssa. I am a 29 year old, born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

I took my first ‘solo’ trip in 2011 to Europe through an organized travel company with a group of 45 other college students from all over the United States looking to spend New Years Eve in another country. At the time, I was eight months from graduating and I thought this would be my only chance to run away since I was about to enter the ‘real world’ and vacations over two weeks aren’t exactly welcomed. This was the trip that gave me a case of wonderlust that refuses to leave, and I hope it never does.

Since graduating from college and passing my RN boards in 2012, I have spent three years working as a hospice nurse. I love my job, the people I have met along the way and I am grateful for all that I have learned. But, I have never felt satisfied staying in the same place day after day. I knew that I had to get back on a plane and see the world.

In 2015 the wanderlust struggle is real ladies and gentleman. Real enough that I  saved up enough money to leave my job and I purchased a one way ticket to Thailand to backpack my way through Asia on my first true solo trip. Two years later and I am loving life living in Northern India! I have no idea what the future holds, but I am enjoying every moment of this journey!

Much love <3 <3
